The FBI Norfolk Citizens Academy Alumni Association hosts its Annual Law Enforcement Symposium each year. This award-winning program brings together more than 250 command-level professionals from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies across Hampton Roads to learn about and collaborate on law enforcement initiatives that directly impact our communities.
This full day event consists of a continental breakfast, seminar speakers, a buffet style hot lunch, keynote speaker, and occasionally a panel event. Sponsors’ tables at the Symposium have information and materials that may be of interest to attendees. The subject matter presentations are carefully considered and based on suggestions from previous attendees. The program will also provide continuing education credits for those attending from the law enforcement community (DCJS).
The symposium addresses important trends and issues that affect the Law Enforcement community. Past topics have included:
It is our desire to offer an opportunity for Law Enforcement Officers to hear topical subject matter presented by knowledgeable speakers, to build new relationships, strengthen existing relationships, and to work together to have a positive impact on our communities.
The Law Enforcement Symposium is our signature event and is offered to all law enforcement organizations operating in the area of responsibility of the Norfolk Division of the FBI. These organizations range from local law enforcement, Sheriff’s Offices, military investigative commands, Commonwealth Attorney Offices, DEA, ATF, and other related agencies as well as FBI Norfolk Division staff. Law Enforcement credentials must be presented at registration.
We also invite sponsors to set up tables to market their offerings and support the Law Enforcement community.

Former attendees will receive a “Save the Date” email several months before the event with the date, time and location details.
The FBI Norfolk Citizens Academy Alumni Association sponsors this event, but in order to defray the food cost per person, we are asking all Law Enforcement attendees to pay $30 per person. Tickets are non-refundable except in unusual circumstances. You can also pass your registration to another officer to take your place, if you are unable to attend. Please contact the committee chair to discuss this process if you plan to do so, so that it can be adjusted.
FBI Norfolk CAAA active members (in good standing) pay $40 each to attend. We also ask that CAAA members volunteer to help with the event. Tickets are non-refundable except in unusual circumstances. You can contact the committee to discuss this process.
Attendance for sponsors with law enforcement security clearance is included with their sponsorship.
Law Enforcement personnel will receive an email through our Wild Apricot platform announcing the "Save the Date" and then another email for when registration opens. You will be asked if you want to attend and options are "Yes, No, Maybe". If you select yes, you will be taken to the registration page and payment methods. If you select No you will not receive any further information on the event. Should you decide to change your mind and attend, prior to event registration cutoff date, please contact the committee chairperson to be registered.
